Triglycerides

Intended use

Biostep Diagnostics Liquizyme triglycerides reagent is intended for the in-vitro quantitative, diagnostics determination of triglycerides in human serum on both manual and automated systems.

Background

Triglycerides are the main lipids present in the human plasma the others are cholesterol, phospholipids, and non-esterified fatty acids. They are formed in the intestinal mucosa by the esterification of glycerol and fatty acids. Measurement of triglycerides is used in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus, liver obstruction, hyper lipo-proteinemia, detection and monitoring of atherosclerosis.
